Harumi Taniguchi to Yuzu Aihara, in with love

Harumi Taniguchi (谷口 はるみ Taniguchi Harumi?) is the younger sister of Mitsuko Taniguchi and the best friend of Yuzu Aihara.

Harumi casual

Harumi's full casual appearance

Harumi is a young girl with long plum (dark auburn in the anime) hair that is styled in low twin pigtails. She has perfectly straight bangs that cover her forehead, with somewhat longer bangs on the sides of her head and ears (but she sometimes wears her hair tied in a ponytail on the bottom of her head or even loose). She also has hazel eyes and rather large breasts where she hides stuff that are banned by the school regulations (like makeup and her cellphone). [1]

Like Yuzu, Harumi is a fashionable girl who keeps up with the latest trends, some of which are quite revealing on her (such as displaying her bust, belly etc.) whenever she is out of school.

Harumi is a kind, humorous and easy-going girl who has a similar mentality to Yuzu and enjoys doing things which are prohibited by her school's regulations. She better describes herself as a "gyaru in disguise" [2] as she usually avoids trouble. According to Matsuri, that is because Harumi is afraid of being hurt.[3]

  • The name Harumi means "light, sun, male" (陽), "spring" (春) or "clear weather" (晴) (haru) and "sea, ocean" (海) or "beautiful" (美) (mi).
    • It can also have different meanings depending on the writing:
      • "Spring beauty" (春美)
      • "Spring fruit" (春実)
      • "Fine weather" and "beauty" (晴美)
      • "Govern, rule" and "beauty" (治美)
        • However, the name Harumi has no actual meaning as it's written in Hiragana.
  • Harumi's surname Taniguchi means "valley" (谷) (tani) and "mouth, entrance" (口) (guchi), in which these words combined would mean "mouth of a valley".
  • In the manga, Harumi appears to be unaware of the relationship between Yuzu and Mei.
    • But in the Drama CD, Harumi is implied to be aware as she purposely stops Himeko from getting in their way. [4]
